Robot, Avatar & ICT
FESTIVAL #1

As we enter a super-aging society often described as the era of 100-year lives, new challenges have emerged for human society.
Even as science, technology, and civilization continue to develop, the happiness level of people in Japan has continued to decline.

Robots and avatars are constantly being upgraded and searching for new roles, with the aim of creating a society where everyone — including older adults, people with disabilities, and those in vulnerable positions who find it difficult to go out freely — can feel connected to others.

Of course, they do not have their own will or life.

Yet inside them is the warm heart of human beings who wish to make people happy. The Expo became a stage for expressing this shared aspiration.

Competing in Everyday Life

At Keihanna Expo Festival #1, events centered on robots, avatars, and ICT — fields of research actively pursued in the Keihanna area and beyond — opened a new chapter in human-robot coexistence.

❶ Avatar Challenge 2025

Avatars, or remotely operated robots, joined a lively parade accompanied by brass band music, and took part in events at a sports festival, including rock-paper-scissors, Jizo-bon, shopping, slalom, and hill climbing.

Everyday scenes — such as playing, taking walks, and shopping together with remotely operated robots — were turned into competitions.

❷ Drone & XR Fest

Visitors experienced drone performances controlled remotely and hands-on attractions using XR technology, moving between virtual and real worlds and experiencing near-future lifestyles created through the fusion of technology and creativity.

❸ Avatar Visits

This project demonstrated a new style of tourism by offering experiences where participants could tour sightseeing areas remotely through avatars.

❹ Avatar Conductor

At the closing ceremony, an avatar conducted the opening quintet, presenting a vision of collaboration between humans and robots in the field of art and a society where they coexist.
