A Year and a Half Where Global Startups and Local Communities Came Together
What is the Keihanna Global Startup PoC Challenge, KPoC?
KPoC is a proof-of-concept program in which startups from Japan and overseas work with local residents and organizations to take on the challenge of solving social issues.
Keihanna’s strengths lie in its advanced research and development capabilities, its environment for resident-participatory PoC projects, and its international network. Through KPoC, we presented Keihanna’s urban functions as a “PoC-friendly” city that makes full use of these strengths.
The Field of Demonstration: The Power of Trust That Reaches Everyday Life
PoC projects by six selected companies from three countries were carried out in collaboration with residents, companies, and government bodies.
For technology to reach society, trust with residents is essential. Keihanna’s greatest appeal lies in its capacity as a community to welcome overseas companies into everyday living spaces, as well as the coordination capabilities that support this acceptance.
The Energy of Co-Creation: Creating a Place Where People Across Different Positions Weave the Future Together
At the Startup Festival, startups from Japan and overseas, universities, companies, government bodies, support organizations, students, and local residents gathered around the latest technologies, giving rise to diverse dialogues and ideas for collaboration.
This symbolized Keihanna’s co-creation ecosystem, where value continues to be created across organizational boundaries.
Future Outlook: From the Expo to a Post-Expo City
The foundation cultivated through KPoC — a community that welcomes new challenges — should not end as a one-time initiative, but should become a lasting regional asset.
We aim to establish a “Post-Expo City,” where demonstration projects and co-creation continue to take place as part of everyday life even after the Expo, and to become an innovation hub where innovators from around the world will instinctively think, “Keihanna is where we can make it happen.”
